Laptops for Teachers
Life
of a laptop
The “Laptops for Teachers
Program” initiative is aimed at encouraging principals
and teachers to effectively integrate the use of learning
technologies into the classroom and administrative practices
of schools.
All principals, assistant principals and
teachers with 50% or greater teaching load are eligible. The
laptops will personally be allocated and teachers will keep
them when they move between schools.
The primary objectives of the initiative are to:
- provide tools for teachers so they can
consolidate their professional development and improve their
skills and confidence level in relation to Information,
Communications and Technology;
- support and encourage principals and teachers
to effectively integrate the use of learning technologies
into classroom and administrative practices;
- reward and provide an incentive for teachers
undertaking significant professional development in the
use of learning technologies; and
- enhance the professional status of teachers.
The provision of Laptop computer products
and services are an essential element in the achievement of
these objectives.
Please note: Laptops are leased by
DEET. They are not owned by schools or individual teachers
as such the laptop or bag should not be marked with school
asset tags, stickers, liquid paper, permanent marker or engraved.
These residual markings reduce the value of the item when
they are returned to the lessor at the end of the leasing
agreement.
