Web 2.0 Tools

What are Web 2.0 Tools?

Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 are business terms used to describe the way online users utilise the World Wide Web.

  • Web 1.0 Tools are the online technologies that are used to find out information (read only aspect of online education). Ownership is foremost.
  • Web 2.0 Tools are the online technologies that are used to write/publish on the World Wide Web (interactive engagement online). Sharing and collaboration encompass the tools.

Many schools already utilise Web 1.0 Tools. The Digital Education Revolution requires educators to prepare learners to live and work in a digital world through the use of innovative learning technologies, which include Web 2.0 Tools.
