LAMS
(Learning Activity Management System)
Accessing LAMS
LAMS (“Learning Activity Management
System”) is a system for creating and managing sequences
of Learning Activities.
It has four main areas:
Author
where a teacher can create and modify sequences of learning
activities and store these in the sequence repository,
Monitor
where a teacher can select a sequence from the sequence
repository, assign a group of learners, activate the sequence
for learners, and then monitor their progress.
Learner
where a group of learners participate in a sequence that
has been activated for them by a teacher.
Administration
for system administrators to set up LAMS users, manage user
groups and other system administration functions.
The activities can include a range of individual
tasks, small group work and whole class activities based
on both content and collaboration.
Creating courses
Teachers can create courses for learners
using a ‘drag n drop’ action and choose from
a variety of tools.

Monitoring Student Progress
Teachers can monitor each student’s
progress and responses as they move through the course.
LAMS 1.0 was piloted in schools in 2006 with
learners ranging from Year 2 to Year 9. Responses from teachers
and students were very favourable resulting in an upgrade
to LAMS 2.0 and availability for all NT Schools.
Demonstrations and training are available
for schools upon request.
