Telecommunications

Telstra is the telecommunications service provider for all DET schools.

There are three main forms of data/Internet services that are provided to schools:

  • G-WIP – GWIP network is a broadband service providing a single fibre access at each school site. These school sites are based in urban locations.
  • G-BIP – GBIP provides connection to the network using Symmetric High Bit-rate DSL (SHDSL) services. These sites are schools located in regional and remote locations.
  • Satellite – SkyConnect Private Network will be used to provide connectivity to remote sites. These sites do not have ready access to land based infrastructure because of their degree of remoteness.

When logging calls for telecommunications issues with the DET Service Desk, please use the Telstra Site Code. the link below lists the code, type of data service and the bandwidth for all schools.
