Software

Edsoft | Microsoft | Platypus | Other Vendors

Windows Software Update Server (WSUS)

Patches and security updates to Microsoft software are managed by WSUS software which is installed on the school servers. All critical updates are automatically installed.

MS Patch and Application Deployment

MS Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) and MS Systems Management Server (SMS) are installed on NT Schools servers. These applications allow automatic deployment of security updates and patches to Microsoft software as well as deployment of applications.

Non-SOE Software

The ICTC has Administrator access to all workstations and can install non-SOE software on workstations. To install software on workstations, follow the installation instructions that come with each software title.

SOE Updates

Standard Operating Environment changes will be pushed out either through SMS or on a SOE CD-ROM/DVD that will be shipped to the school. As per current process, information will be provided to school via ICTC Bulletin.

SOE Customisation

SOE customisation may be done through SMS Application packages and is expected to minimise the amount of capacity occupied by custom images and provide a more flexible customisation solution to the schools.

SP2

Presently the only way to successfully load SP2 on Optima's is to reimage and then load SP2 immediately before joining the domain.
