ICTC Roles & Responsibilities

Troubleshooting | Online Training Course | ICTC Forums

Being an ICT Coordinator is an on going role and can be transferred between schools.  All schools must have a staff member who is identified as an ICT coordinator.  Schools should have at least one ICTC (bigger schools should have at least two ICTCs).

The ICT Coordinator is the first point of contact for support and trouble shooting in the school and is responsible for:

  1. Completing the online ICTC induction course. The ICTC will be deemed competent to perform the functions required for the ICTC's current school.
  1. Carrying out daily system administration tasks, which can include the following:
    • Asset management and maintenance of NTSchools equipment
    • Software licence management, maintenance/installation
    • Maintaining the Quota Limits and Disk Usage Reports
    • Configuring/connecting new printers, check if printers are working/clearing print queue’s
    • Data file/folder housekeeping—Remind all users to remove/clean-up of files and folders on the server
    • Account Management – moves, adds and changes to staff and student accounts with the school
  • Logging all requests for support with the IT Service Centre as per the procedures manual.

Please note:

  • The IT Service Centre should be the ICTC’s first point of contact for NTSchools issues.
  • The IT Service Centre will either help you directly, or, if the incident is the responsibility of another service provider, will log and refer the incident on your behalf (as per the chart below). In either case, the IT Service Centre will give you a job number for reference.
  • Please do not call the IT Service Centre for password changes or user account moves, adds or changes. User management is now done via ePass. Contact the ePass team at http://epass.ntschools.net.

ICTC Online Training Course

Staff members can be granted ICTC status following the successful completion of the recently developed online course. This course covers all content required for management at the school and will take about 60 - 90 minutes to complete. Additionally the ICT Coordinator is responsible for logging all requests for support with the IT Service Centre. (NOTE: Principals can also contact the IT Service Centre).

Access to the online course can be activated by sending a request email to:
elearning.det@nt.gov.au. Following successful completion of the ICTC online test, results are forwarded to ITSD. Staff at ITSD will then request approval from the school principal and notify IT Service Centre of new ICTC status.
