Upgrade
The upgrade of
school servers and computers continued with Stuart Park,
Nakara, Woolaning, St Pauls, and Litchfield Christian
schools being migrated to the ntschools.net over the
last 2 weeks. This completes the pilot sites and the
project team will now scale up to migrate all schools
over the next 9 weeks.

AARNET
for Internet Services
Schools Internet services were moved from Telstra to
AARNet on Wednesday 4 October. There were some teething
problems but these have been resolved. The net effect
of the changes is that the size of the pipe connecting
NT schools to the Internet has increased from 20 Mb
to 100 Mb.
Professional Learning
Opportunities
ICT in Education has been identified as a priority area
of the NT DEET Approved Student Status Scheme, allowing
NT DEET teachers to be funded to study at Charles Darwin
University in 2007.
NT DEET will fund two
units* per applicant in one of the following courses
- Graduate Certificate in Education
– ICT Specialisation (GCE).
- Master of Education Degree.
- Bachelor of Education
Applications for Approved Student
Status must be submitted by 3rd November 2006.

Fair 2006 - Interact and Innovate
The ICT Fair is the culmination of a creative learning
journey for students and their teachers in developing
an interactive and innovative product using ICT technology.
The purpose of the fair is to encourage the use of ICT
in NT schools and colleges across all curriculum areas,
and to provide a forum to showcase students' work. The
Fair strives to be inclusive and encourages participation
from all Territory school students.

Perhaps the biggest change in the new environment for
users is the move from Squirel Mail to Exchange for
email services. Exchange is an industry standard product
and it offers a rich array of mail, diary and collaboration
functionality. This section is intended to give you
an understanding of the different ways you can access
your email.
